Boys' Weekend

I returned yesterday from a weekend away from the men in my life. I had an excellent weekend with Mom and Kerri at a spa in Minnesota. While we were busy being pampered, shopping, and drinking wine, the boys were busy bonding. When I returned home, I asked Jon what they had been busy doing while I was away. His response was, "We sat around in our underware and smoked cigars and all of the other things we can't do when Mom's around". Though I question the cigar part, I am pretty confident that they enjoyed themselves quite a bit. I got regular reports by phone that Braxton was being "really good" and received no emergency "I can't find the _____" phone calls. Jon says that the weekend went so well because Braxton "isn't such a mama's boy anymore" :). I'm guessing it has a lot to do with the indepednence that he is gaining. He is now crawling all over the place. He is pulling up on things. He is taking some steps here and there. The other day, I had him standing in front of the couch. He simply turned and walked away from me! By the time I got to him, he was in the kitchen. Fortunatly, he landed on the ground pretty softly, as we've ahd a few nasty spills. Either way, it was a great weekend for everyone. I had an excellent "girl's weekend", and the boys did the same. It's a good thing, as we've decided to make these weekends an annual event. And we decided that next year we are going to invite Grandma Sandy, so the boys better be prepared to really be on their own :).
