A Boy And His Dog
It's official. Braxton has officially fallen in love with his dog. He spends much of his time at home concentrating on Chance. He spends time petting her, throwing a ball for her, and when he is not sure where she is, calling her name. Unfortunately, Chance is a pretty tough word for an 18 month old little boy to say. So, she goes by "Dah". Or "Dah Dah". Depending on how bad he wants to find her. He's also learned to say "dog", so sometimes he will try that to get her attention. He even pats the floor or his leg like he has seen us do when we call her. Too bad she hasn't figured out the correlation. She doesn't ever come!
Interestingly enough, Chance continues to by the jealous "big sister". She is not really impressed by Braxton at all. It is obvious that she yearns for the days when she had our undivided attention. The only time she seems to really appreciate him at all is when he has food in his hands. Then he's her best friend! Thus, Chance spends a lot of her time avoiding the (not so gentle) pats, along with working hard to distract our attention from "the kid". I am hopeful, though, that once he is big enough to really play with her, the love with go both ways. Until that time, I guess we'll just wait it out. And watch as Braxton smothers her with all the love an 18 month old heart can hold :).
