The First "Official" Haircut

Today, Braxton had his first official haircut. We had trimmed it about six months ago, but that was just to get the fuzz off one side of his head, so I don't really count that one. This was his first "real" one. Though most kids have had at least a few haircuts before their second birthday, the area of hair growth was a bit slow in Braxton's case. I tell everyone that it takes a lot to be such a big guy - he just doesn't have time to grow a lot of hair!
It was a bittersweet experience. Braxton had this headful of beautiful blonde curls. They were so fun to twist and twirl! But, now he has the same beautiful curls, just a little bit smaller :). He looks like such a "big boy". And a pretty hansome big boy, if I do say so myself :).
On another note, Braxton and I both went in for our checkups on Thursday. Braxton came in at 35 pounds and exactly 3 feet tall. That puts him in the 95th percentile for weight and the 90th percentile for height. The doctor still tells me that we have nothing to worry about as long as they are proportionate. But he did follow that up with, "He weighs as much as my five year old!" Well, whatever.... He is healthy as can be, so I can not ask for anything else!
And my checkup went fine. Outside of the typical aches and pains that come along with being in the final weeks of pregnancy, everything is A-Ok. I should be hitting the five week count down any day now. The race is on!!
