Kyler Paul

On July 21st, at 4:56 PM, we welcomed in the newest member of our family. Kyler Paul Perkins entered our world on a beautiful summer afternoon. He weighed 9 pounds, 3 ounces and was 21 1/2 inches long (yeah, he looks like a 4 week old). Despite his hefty size, labor and delivery went off without a hitch. Mom is now 1 to 3 in the battle of the sexes, and a little nervous about being overtaken by all of the testosterone in our house. But, hey, what the heck. I'm growing pretty fond of these little guys!

Mom and baby have now been home for five days, and so far, so good. So far, he appears to have quite the easy going temperament. He fusses when he is hungry and, well, that's about it. Last night, he slept from 9:30 to 6 with just waking up once at 2 AM for a snack. He has done really well sleeping all along. Needless to say, I spend a good part of the night checking on him. I've even pulled the "finger under the nose" thing a few times.

For those of you that remember, our first go-around with the baby-world was not nearly as pleasant. Braxton was not near as kind to us, He started out kicking pretty much from the beginning. So, I am hoping that everyone is right when they say "every baby is different" and that Kyler will stay this sweet, but I have my guard up! Regardless, we are all so happy to have him here with us. :)

Speaking of the little squirt, Braxton is really enjoying the Big Brother role. He asks often "Where's my Kyler?" or shows everyone "That's my broder - Kyler". He wonders often "What's Kyler doing?", and now tells me often "Kyler likes milk!" :). He offered Kyler some cereal to go with his milk, but Kyler didn't take him up on it (just yet).

So, from now on, I will get to provide everyone with an update on both of my little gentlemen. Hold on, everyone, we're in for a wild ride!
