Status Updates

So it's been awhile since I've given the "status" of the boys. You know, that stuff that you always ask your mom when you're old - "How old was I when I crawled? When was I potty trained? What was I like then?" I figure if I put it in writing, it will be there for them to read. And then when they have kids, they can make all the same comparisons that we do now... (that is given blogger doesn't vanish into thin air one of these days, then I'm in trouble :)
Bracky James - We are about two months shy of his third birthday. We have hit the potty training hard in the last two weeks. He's been wearing "big boy underwear" to daycare for about a week. Unfortunately, we are still having about 2 accidents a day. But, heck, that's better than nothing! And he is so proud of himself every time he goes. I never thought I would be so excited about pee and poop! (Update: We were three days dry. Until we are eating supper tonight and Braxton says, "I'm peeing my underware!". Well, here's to three good days. And the countdown starts again... :)
Braxton is talking up a storm. He has so much to say! (though he gets pretty quiet around people he doesn't know) He can spell his name, as well as Kyler's and Mom and Dad. He is using concepts like "yesterday" and "tomorrow". He tries to bargain his way out of things. He can "read" simple books to himself. His vocabulary gets him into a bit of trouble, though, because he has become a bit of a bossy pants, though he will disagree - "I'm not a boss boss, Mom. YOU are a boss boss."Whatever...
As of last week, he has officially moved OUT of the tent he has been sleeping in since Christmas. No warning, no idea why. He just got into bed last week and that is where he has stayed. At least now I don't have to explain to other people why my kid sleeps in a tent...
And Kyler Baby (as his brother refers to him) - is a little over eight months now. Soon, I think he will be pulling himself up. He can get from laying to sitting. And last week, he started crawling. It is amazing to me how one day he can't go anywhere, and the next day, he can make laps around the house. We put up the gate yesterday. And we've had a few minor accidents (mostly because mom and dad forget that he moves around now). Unfortunately, he has a new fascination with Braxton's potty chair. So, all day is Put the potty up, Put the potty down, And up, And down...
He can feed himself some foods (though it takes a while...). He is da da-ing and ba ba-ing everywhere. He laughs at everything - especially his brother. And he cries when you leave the room. He's getting a bit of stranger anxiety, so he won't be content with just anyone any more. Though getting more verbal all the time, he continues to be a very happy baby. He is content with most anything and is pretty easy to please. That is, unless you are not feeding him fast enough. Then you're in trouble.
So, as you can see, Jon and I stay busy. Some days, I feel more like a cattle hearder than anything else :). And as I watch the laundry pile up and the fridge empty out, I often think that there is no way to get ahead. And, in all honesty, I think every mom would agree that you don't. There is always something that needs to be done. But, at the end of the day, as I colapse on the couch amidst the mess, I count my blessings for the wonderful family that I have. I am thankful.
