"Well, that wasn't so bad!"
Finally, it is gone. The white anklet that has been attached to Braxton for the last four months is finally GONE!
To give those that don't know some background, Braxton was in the hospital on Christmas Eve. He had some tests done. We thought he might be having seizures. Anyways, the tests all came back normal and he has been fine. So, nothing that we are worrying about now, but just so you know the story...
While he was there, they had to put an ID band on. They put it on his ankle. For some reason, he asked to keep it on. So, OK, no big deal. We left it on. Well, days turned to weeks, which turned to months. Eventually, he flatly refused to take it off. And at some point, he decided that "It will hurt" to cut it off. Several times, Braxton would agree just long enough for Jon to get the scissors out, and then he would again absolutely refuse. Kicking, screaming, the whole bit.
So, the past several months we have spend explaining to people "What is on his ankle?". The name has long past disappeared. So, it was simply this dirty, white plastic band. And then we would have to tell the whole story. People kinda looked at us like "Huh. Odd." But we just shrugged. That's our man, we would say. He just likes things his way.
Well, last night, Jon gave him a deal he could not resist. "If you let me cut off your bracelet, we can go outside and play a little more baseball." That was all it took. Braxton braved up, held his breath, and let his daddy cut. The first thing out of his mouth? "Well, that wasn't so bad!" :)
