Me See!
As Baby Etta continues to settle into our crazy routine here, the stories of the boys' infatuation continue to grow. They remain as in love as the day we brought her home. First thing in the morning, they need to know where she is. They lay on each side of her trying to coax her to look one way or another. They are always willing to give her the pacifier or fetch a burp cloth or whatever it may be. And they still don't seem at all bothered by the amount of time she takes up.
They do mandate play by plays from me on what is happening with her. This has led to a few interesting conversations about breast feeding, pumping, diaper changing, childbirth, belly buttons, etc. But they except each fumbling explanation without question and carry on their way.
One of my favorite daily statements comes from Kyler. For those of you that hear Kyler speak on a regular basis, you know that he is usually quite soft-spoken and still talks with that "toddler" voice - lots of unusual grammar and pronunciations. Add that to his big hazel eyes staring at you, it's hard to not melt (unless he's in big trouble - then it's pretty easy :).
So, several times a day, Kyler asks to see Etta. Whether she is sleeping or eating or awake, he wants to "see" her. And it is not enough to just see her, he asks very specifically - "Mom, me sees Etta?" "Yeah, she's right here, Kyler." "No, mom. Me sees Etta's eyes." So, multiple times a day, I have to show Kyler Etta's eyes. Open or closed, it doesn't matter. But if they are covered for whatever reason, we always have to "find them". He takes one look at her eyes, kisses her on the head, and runs along on his way. Melt my heart!
