Dropping In
So, I have nothing real particular to write. Just thought I would drop in before the end of the month. We did take Etta's 3 month pictures the other day, so I'm hoping to post them one of these days. But, in the mean time...
Life trucks along. Braxton had his parent-teacher conferences this week. He is in the top reading and math groups in his class (way to go, kid!). He scored great on all of the standardized testing. He is loving school. And loving learning. He is so anxious to get home and do his homework it's crazy! I could have used some of that ambition in college ;). Mrs. Rohr did say he can be a bit shy and has a hard time putting himself out there. Which I knew would be the case. He even said to me "I don't ask the other kids to play because I know they will say no" :(. Fortunately, most of his classmates must not be as shy as he is, because he usually finds someone to play with. So, thank goodness for those crazy outgoing kids. I thank them! He has also started soccer, which we've had a great time watching. He gets right in there and has a great time. It is so fun to watch all those little guys - not a one is scared of getting right in there and doing their thing.
Kyler, too, has had an exciting month. We had preschool parent teacher conferences, which was fun. Mrs. Tammy showed us his first day "this is how I write my name" sheet. It was, well, scribbles all over. Super cute! She says that he does great paying attention, staying on task, and doing the gross motor skills. She said he gets a little tired of the fine motor tasks, but figures his hand just wears out. She said he behaves great, and the only trouble he has is that he is quick to cry is someone takes his toy. I was happy to hear that because we've had a bit of trouble with him hitting at home. Just glad to know he keeps it under wraps in public ;). He has a lot of girls in his preschool/daycare class. And I think he has fallen in love. Her name is Sage, and she is cute as a button. Most days when we leave, I say "Say goodbye to your friends." So, he turns around, "Good bye, Sage!". Sage asked me yesterday if Kyler could come play at her house. Too cute!! Of course! I asked his teacher about Sage, and she said "Oh, they play so good together." :)
And little Etta is doing just great. I CANNOT believe that she is three months old already! She is holding her head up like a trooper. She sleeps most of the night, usually waking once to eat, but going right back to sleep. I usually have to wake her up at 7:30 in order to get everyone out the door on time. She is smiling at us all the time, but no giggles yet. We had her in to the clinic today, and she weighed in at 12 pounds. We had her in because she is running a low grade temp and has been coughing to beat the band for about 10 days. She is coughing and has this snot nose that just won't quit. I haven't worried too much about it because it is clear, etc, but it does get in the way of her eating, since she can't hardly breathe though her nose. Poor girl... On that note, Kyler is in bed now and he, too, is definitely running a temp. I drugged him the best I could and we will see what morning brings. Man, I hate having sick kids!! I feel SOOOO bad for them. And it seems like I never quite know the best thing to do for them.
So, all in all, a good, but relatively quiet month. This weekend is Etta's baptism, so we are looking forward to that. I will be sure to post pictures of that in the coming weeks. :)
