So proud
Today we had Braxton's Parent Teacher Conferences. And I have to say - I am soooo very proud of my not-so-little little boy! First grade is obviously going very well for him. Miss Flitton tells us that he is off the charts for all of the standardized testing. He is reading at a 4th grade level. They are suppose to be able to read 30 some words a minute, and he can read 120+. He is reading and comprehending chapter books with ease. His spelling tests are great, and starting next week, he and two other boys in his reading group will be receiving advanced spelling tests. She says, too, that his math skills are also extraordinary. Again, off the charts. His only struggle is to improve his penmanship. It drives him crazy that he can't get an E on that, so he's working on it (some). She told us that she will be referring him to the Talented And Gifted program next year.
Despite all of those wonderful things, I think the best part was to hear about what a great classmate he is. We were told that he is a "great example" for the other students and a "joy" to have in the classroom. And that he gets along well with everyone. Miss Flitton states that he works well with a partner and "never gets frustrated". He has many friends and is always willing to help someone out. It is so fun to see him in the school, everyone saying "hi" to him and he, sometimes shyly, sometimes boisterously, saying it back. And to hear about all of the fun things he does with his friends almost every day. Almost every day is a "great" day, if you were to ask him.
To say that Jon and I are beaming with pride today is an understatement. We are so very proud of each of our wonderful little buggers ;).
