Kicking It Into Gear!

After a nice break of run-run-run, we are starting back up again. I thought I best write a quick note before things get completely out of hand :). So, we are shortly starting May.  That means I am less than a month away from being the mother of a second grader and kindergartner!  It is hard to believe that by the end of this coming month, Kyler will have his Preschool graduation ceremony, and Braxton will walk out of Louis L'Amour a free man for the summer.  In the meantime, we have kicked up all of our activities into full gear.  The boys have both started soccer practice. Their first games were cancelled this last weekend, though, because of the miserably cold weather. So, the first games are coming up this Sunday!  They are both beyond excited to get out there and kick the ball around.  So far, so good, with practice anyway.  Shortly after soccer starts teeball and Braxton's first year of baseball.

And we are lucky to say that after a few different tries, we have found our summer nanny.  Her name is Allison. We met when I took her senior pictures two years ago. I put a note up on Facebook and Allison replied. She is finishing up her second year of school at Valley City State and is intending to be an elementary school teacher.  She is also a former Sophistikix, like yours truly!  So, everyone is super excited to have her come! And to spend the summer at home with each other.  Here's hoping for the best :).

As for Mom and Dad, Jon is getting ready to kick off his racing season.  He has the big test-and-tune this coming weekend, and if the weather holds, starts the following weekend.  His car is all ready to go, so here's hoping that he is!  And he tells me that as soon as the frost comes out of the ground, the whole family is gearing up for round two of rock picking at the future homestead. We have trees coming sometime soon.  To say that I am NOT looking forward to this would be an understatement.  I can think of about a million other things that I could do with my time than wander around out there picking up rocks. But, well, all for the good of the whole, right? Man...

As for me, the big thing I  have going on now is that I am running the Fargo Half Marathon on May 10th. I've been training for about 10 weeks for that illusive two hour finish time.  I have  been running up to five times a week and have worn my body about plumb out. So, here's hoping that I can get the goal that I've been trying for since last fall.  I'm banking on all of my hard work to pay off in the end :).

And as we are all running around like mad people, our crazy, crazy baby Etta is keeping us all on our toes. To say she makes our little world go round is more than the truth.  Each one of us loves that little bugger in our own way.  It is so fun to watch her grow and change before our very eyes. After getting her tubes in, she is talking more and more every day.  The boys love to hear her say their names. And I am sure glad she is able to say what she wants instead of just yelling all the time (though she still does plenty of this too ;).
