Happy 2nd Birthday Etta!
Well, it is the season of birthdays at the Perkins household! And last week, we celebrated #2 of 3. Etta turned the 2. We rang in the big accomplishment by having family and friends at our house for some pizza and dairy queen cake. It was kind of a cold and dreary day, so we all were nice and cozy celebrating inside. All of the grandparents were there, along with Granny, Tim and Krysten, and Matt, Mollie, and Mason. Etta seemed to really be enjoying the big event. And she seemed to somehow know that everyone was here to celebrate HER!
So, to recap Etta's second year in this big old world - She is now wearing 24 month clothes, but still has lots of 18 months that fit pretty well. She is saying a few words, but had a bit of a late start because of all of those nasty ear infections. Since the tubes were put in several months ago, she has made some good progress. She can talk in two word sentences (when she wants to). Etta has started using the potty here and there. I think she will be a much earlier potty trainer than her brothers. She is still sleeping in her crib, but now has her carseat turned around so that she can see the big world around her. She is a pretty great eater, usually eating just as much if not more than her brothers And boy, you better not get in her way when she is hungry! Watch out! As for her personality, she is what her grandparents endearingly call a "spit fire". She is a bit on the bossy side, and knows how to sweet talk her brothers into doing just about anything for her. And if that doesn't work, well she just screams at the top of her lungs, which is just as effective ;). She knows what she wants and she is out there getting it. She is much more adventurous than her brothers were at this age, spending a good majority of her day in some kind of dirty mess or another - mud puddles, playground sand, dewy grass, um, toilet water... Yeah, it's a little gross!
So, there you have it. One more big birthday coming up in July and then we are all settled in for the year. Kyler is looking forward to the big 5, knowing that he is the last one of the line up. :)
