The Big Surgery
So, Kyler has had a BIG week! He had surgery on Tuesday to have his tubes put back in his ears and also have his tonsils and adenoids removed. It all started when we took him for his well-child check before school started. When they looked in his ear, they thought that he had a hole in his ear drum. Come to find out, his ear drum was "retracted", as in "sucked in" due to all of the pressure in his head. So, they wanted to put the tubes back int. Basically, to pop him like a balloon (and keep him "popped"). Well, in the mean time, Kyler ended up with ANOTHER one of his chronic-snot-face moments, with boogers running down his nose, just like every other winter. So, I thought, maybe since he is going to out anyway, maybe it would be useful to get his tonsils and adenoids removed. So, back to the doctor we went. And she agreed - get 'em out of there. So, that's what happened this week - tubes went in, infected, gross, unnecessary bodily organs out.
And to my surprise, he has done just GREAT. A few complaints of pain here and there, but much better than I anticipated. He has been home all week, with lots of family taking turns watching him. He is just coming off of a fun-filled day with Grandpa Glenn (can you say "root beer floats"?). From day one we've been having to remind him to stay still, stop jumping, don't run around like that, etc., etc. So, I anticipate a full recovery by the end of the week. He will be back to school on Monday, and here is hoping this will all be worth it and he will be booger free (or at least less-boogered!).
