Easter
In sticking with the stay-at-home/quarantine theme, Easter was an exciting, fun filled, stay at home event! We nabbed an Easter cookie decorating kit from a local baker. We dyed Easter eggs (though not nearly to the quantity that we are used to doing at Granny's). We went on a nature walk, rounding up 3 deer sheds. We listened to church over the radio. We cooked our very 1st independent holiday meal (ham, twice baked potatoes, green bean casserole, buns, and fruit salad - not bad if I do say so myself). We were able to nab some angel food desert from Grandma/Grandpa Perkins when they swung in for a few minutes. And we Zoomed with our families. Twice!
I was beyond impressed with our ingenuity and desire to make the holiday a success despite our circumstances. I was in love with our ability to work together and share each other's company. This was not only our first quarantined holiday, it was also our 1st holiday after Granny passed away. Granny was such a staple of our lives for, well, forever. And her presence was never more known than on the holidays. So, having our 1st holiday not only without her, but without the rest of our family, was a noted challenge. It was an opportunity for us to also appreciate our families and to remember beautiful memories. And to create new memories that we will likely never experience again!
